Arrival in Paro (2,200 m)
- Arrive in Paro and acclimatize.
- Explore Paro town, Rinpung Dzong, and nearby cultural sites if time permits.
- Overnight in Paro.
Paro – Trek Preparation / Acclimatization Day
- Visit Drukgyel Dzong and surrounding areas.
- Optional short hike or sightseeing to prepare for the trek.
- Overnight in Paro.
Paro – Shana – Thangthangkha Camp
Trek begins
- Drive from Paro to the trek starting point near Shana.
- Begin walking through forests alongside the Paro Chhu River.
- Cross traditional bridges and gradually gain altitude.
- Camp at Thangthangkha (around 3,600 m).
- Trek time: approximately 7–8 hours.
Thangthangkha – Jangothang (Jomolhari Base Camp)
- Continue through alpine landscapes and remote valleys.
- Pass yak herder settlements and enjoy increasingly dramatic mountain scenery.
- Reach Jangothang (around 4,000 m), the base camp area of Mt. Jomolhari.
- Trek time: approximately 6–7 hours.
Acclimatization Day at Jangothang
- Rest and adjust to altitude.
- Optional hikes toward viewpoints overlooking Jomolhari and Jichu Drake.
- Explore the surrounding high-altitude valley.
- Overnight at Jangothang.
Jangothang – Soi Thangthangkha
- Begin the return journey.
- Descend through mountain valleys and forests.
- Enjoy different perspectives of the landscape on the way back.
- Camp at Soi Thangthangkha.
Soi Thangthangkha – Shana – Paro
- Continue descending through forested trails.
- Complete the trek at Shana.
- Drive back to Paro.
- Celebrate the completion of the trek.
- Overnight in Paro.
